A home for Lutherans from around the world

International Lutherans is a forum for all who share English as their common language at St. Finian’s Church. In accordance with the constitution of the Lutheran Church in Ireland, the Church Council has commissioned a Presiding Team to coordinate the ministry in the English language. Currently Yvonne Langebach, Anne Marie Reilly and Pr Martin Sauter make up the Presiding Team. Together with a committee of volunteers they take care of the organisation of services and events in English. Every last Sunday of the month our 11am Eucharist Service is conducted in English by Dr. Gesa Thiessen. After the morning service there is time for everyone to meet over tea & coffee in the adjacent Lutherhaus. With our English speaking SundayNight@StFinians service we offer an additional mid-month service at 6pm on Sunday evenings. SundayNight@StFinians is a worship space for different kinds of liturgy, new and old, at times exploring specific themes and other times following liturgical impulses inspired by the cycle of the Church Year – from Advent, through Lent and Easter to Creation Tide, and to the reflections on the end of time and eternity at the end of the Church Year. Every second month we follow the order of the Holden Evening Prayer, a sung vespers with music by the contemporary American composer Marty Haugen. Please check our calendar for details.

All are most welcome, regardless of whether you originally belonged to a church in the worldwide Lutheran family, whether you are just curious to find out about Lutheran worship or whether you don’t belong to any church at all. No matter if you are here for the long haul or just visiting, we would be delighted to meet you.

The Lutheran Church in Ireland’s bilingual newsletter, the „Gemeindebrief” contains a section listing our English language events and services. In addition we send regular updates on upcoming English language events via email.
